Sheriff Tim Pounds' Initiatives
Since taking office Sheriff Pounds has implemented numerous changes in his efforts to bridge the gap between law enforcement and the community. S.C.O.P.E. (Sheriff's Community Outreach Programs and Education) is the umbrella for outreach and educational projects such as:
-
Polar Patrol-Ice Cream Truck
Deputies are engaged with children and their parents building rapport while speaking with them about drugs and gangs.
-
SCORPION Unit
The SCORPION Unit consists of seasoned officers patrolling high risk areas. They are also proactively engaged in reducing crime.
-
The Re-Entry Program
The Re-Entry Program provides tools/resources to assist inmates with life after incarceration and decrease recidivism at DCSO.
-
Sound Truck
Deputies engage in activities/build rapport with youth and teens with music and dialogue.
-
Town Hall Meetings
The town hall meetings allow citizens to ask questions and have their concerns addressed in an informal setting.
